The Clerk of Courts serves the Criminal Courts of Common Pleas and Municipal Courts, as well as the Juvenile Division of Family Court. It records, indexes and files all bills of information and transcripts of Municipal Court. The department's clerks also post to dockets; take bail imposed by judges; enter orders for judgments upon bail forfeitures; issue bench warrants; collect fines and cost imposed by the courts; record on bills of information or criminal transcripts the decisions of the courts; issue commitments or discharges for defendants; and, when necessary, answer numerous inquiries from prisoners, attorneys, and judges.
In serving the Juvenile Division of Family Court, the Clerk of Courts handles all matters relative to court case files, including sending subpoenas to witnesses and notifying attorneys of case dates and activities.

Q. Where is Bail posted?
A:Cash bail can be posted 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, at the Police Administration Building, 8th and Race Streets (215-686-1558 or 1559). Bail is accepted Monday through Friday, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the The Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice, Payment Center, 1301 Filbert Street.
Q. When and where are Bail Refunds obtained?
A:Refunds are available 31 days following final disposition at the Payment Center, 1301 Filbert Street. Hours are 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Q. Where are Fines and Costs paid?
A:Payments for all criminal cases are payable at the Payment Center Monday through Friday, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Q. Where can official copies of disposed cases be obtained?
A:Official copies of disposed records are available at the Information Counter, Room 310, The Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice, and can be reproduced at .25 cents per page. Certified copies are $12.50.
Q. Can the public view any disposed records?
A:Yes. Common Pleas Court (1988-1998) and Municipal Court disposed files (1990-1998) are housed in the file complex, Room 310, The Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice. Older files are maintained at the Record Storage Center. There is a two to three week waiting period.
